SECU Scholarship Information

The SECU Foundation "People Helping People" Scholarship program will award at least one scholarship valued at $10,000 (payable at $1,250 per semester) to an RCS graduating senior attending one of the 16 constituent campuses of the UNC System. Each graduating senior that meets the eligibility criteria and submits an application will be considered for the scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be a senior at a North Carolina public high school
Must be a SECU member or is eligible for membership through a parent/guardian
Must be a United States citizen, a resident of North Carolina, and eligible for in-state tuition
Must be accepted to attend one of the 16 UNC system universities as a full-time undergraduate
Must have demonstrated scholastic achievement with a 2.5 or higher unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale
Must have demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement
Complete the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) as a part of the application.
Students must submit a complete electronic application, an official acceptance letter to one of the 16 qualifying institutions, SECU membership verification, and a signed consent form to Mr. Hicks (rhicks@rock.k12.nc.us) by March 3rd, 2023 - via email with the Subject Line "SECU Scholarship Application - [Student Name] (ex. SECU Scholarship Application - Jane Doe). No late applications will be accepted. If you need help uploading documents and/or have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Hicks and/or Ms. Wood (College Advisor - int-ewood@rock.k12.nc.us). *Please note that there are no word/page limits for the essay. Applicants should expand upon their involvement to ensure the scholarship committee can get a sense of who they are and their involvement within the school and community.
