April 22-26
Families we are looking for volunteers to assist with the senior event, Reality of Money.  This event is being provided by our State Employee’s Credit Union with the help of Mr. Bradshaw.  Reality of Money will take place on Tuesday, May 14 from 8:30-12 in the gym. Families, if you are available to volunteer for this event, please reach out to William Bradshaw at RHS. 

 

Families mark your calendar, we want our students to finish the year strong. We will host a Curriculum night April 30th from 5pm-6:30pm. The evening will begin with a student v. staff basketball game in the gym from 5pm-5:30.  From 5:30-6:30 families will be able to meet with teachers and receive a progress update report.  We will have pizza, cookies and drinks. 

 

Our Performing Arts Department will perform The SpongeBob Musical, on April 26 & 27 at 7 PM and April 28 at 2:30 PM.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students. This show will be great for the whole family!  Our senior cast members will be honored during the April 28 show.

 

April 15-19

April 8-12

Q3 Ended Friday, March 29th. Report cards will be distributed through 2nd period classes on  Thursday April 11, 2024.

Ram families, on Monday April 8, 2024 from approximately 1:55 p.m. until 3:15 p.m., a solar eclipse will occur in Rockingham County. This is an exciting event, that comes around once every 18 years.  This is an educational opportunity for our students.  To ensure their safety, solar eclipse glasses will be provided to each student who wishes to participate during their 5th period class.  Students will not be allowed to share in this experience if they choose not to use the solar eclipse glasses, sun shades are not safe for this experience.  We will encourage our students to wear their solar eclipse glasses during departure on April 8th as well.

March 25 - 29

The 3rd grading period will end on Thursday, March 28th.  Students please submit your final assignments. 

 

On Thursday, March 28th we will kick off the spring break with a 1:30pm dismissal.  School will be closed for students from Friday March 29th through Monday, April 8th.  Enjoy your break.

March 18-22

Seniors- Please order your cap and gown. Graduation is around the corner! If you have any questions please contact Mr. Knight or Mr. Murphy.

 

Students Health Service is giving FREE physicals on March 21st. Please stop by the Student Health Service to make an appointment. The physical will be good for a whole year.

 

Congratulations to our Battle of the Books team, they won the district competition and will move on the regional match.  

 

Congratulations to our Men’s V. Basketball team, on Saturday they won the 2A state championship.

 

Students, don’t forget to stop by the media center on the morning of Wednesday, March 20 to take the career evaluation test. Contact Major Torres for a spot.

March 11-15

Are you wondering what you will do after high school? If so, come by the media center on the morning of Wednesday, March 20 and take the ASVAB, a career evaluation test. Contact Major Torres for a spot.

March 4th-8th

Attention National Honor Society Members: We will have a mandatory meeting this Wednesday, March 6th, in Ms. Williamson’s room after school. See you then! 

 

The ACC Team will have their last match against Rockingham County High School next Tuesday (March 5th). The meet will be at RCHS in the auditorium and starts promptly at 6:30 P.M. Please come out and support your fellow Rams!

 

Cap & Gown photos will be taken this Tuesday, March 5th.  Appointment times have been posted to Canvas and emailed to early graduates.  Cap & gowns will be provided by the photographers, and postcards will be provided to those who did not receive an information sheet.  If you have any questions regarding photos, please email or see Mrs. Moody.

Feb. 26-March 1st 

Don’t forget to order your 2024 yearbook by going to jostens.com or come by Mrs. Boyd’s room 410.  The cost is $65.  Do not let the memories pass you by.

 

Junior ACT - February 27th is the ACT for 11th graders. Tuesday, Feb. 27th will be a remote day for  9th, 10th and 12th graders.  To be counted present, 9th, 10t and 12th graders should complete a digital log that has been posted to canvas by their 2nd period teacher.  All remote assignments are located in Canvas. 

 

Interim reports will go out on Feb. 28th, Parents please encourage your child to remain current on all assignments and to seek help when needed. 

 

Ram Delights dance team tryouts will begin tomorrow February 26th at 4:00pm. The tryouts will be February 26th through February 29th. Please make sure you have your tryout packet and good luck to everyone.

 

Anyone interested in participating in the All-County Theatre event this year, please see Mr. Murphy for more details.  Space is limited, we will only take the best 10 students and 1 stage manager.

 

Feb. 19-23

Congratulations to our Ram Scholars who will be inducted into the National BETA Club.  This induction will take place on Thursday Feb. 22nd @ 6:30 pm 

 

Interim reports will go out on Feb. 28th, Parents please encourage your child to remain current on all assignments and to seek help when needed. 

 

On Thursday, Feb. 22nd, we will have early dismissal, school will dismiss at 1:30pm.  

 

Friday Feb. 23rd is a teacher work day, school will be closed to students.

Feb. 12-16

Valentine’s day is Wed. Feb. 14th, students please support the candy grams being sold by our SGA.  Parents please permit your child to enjoy their valentines deliveries at home.  We are unable to disrupt the instructional day with deliveries.  There are also safety hazards associated with glass vases and balloons that obstruct the view of drivers.  Thank you for your cooperation and Happy valentines day.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is hosting a 3 on 3 basketball tournament Saturday Jan 6 at 1:00 pm. Get your team together and sign up at lunch with an FCA representative or with Coach Teague or Coach Solomon. Team entry fee is $30. You must have a form and your team's money submitted to be registered for the tournament. All players will get an FCA tshirt

 

Families, our state exams and teacher made final exams for sem. 1 will begin Jan. 12th, a schedule of the exams and exempt qualifications for teacher made exams has been posted to our website and are available for viewing in Canvas.  You may also find the exam exemption policy in our district’s handbook.  

 

The season of inclement weather is upon us.  Inclement weather plans have been uploaded to your child’s Canvas account.  In the event of inclement weather, students will be directed to these plans to minimize instructional loss.

Our college advisor Ms. Freeland will be hosting a parent FAFSA (financial aid) night on December 18th from 5:30-7. During this time she will present the changes that FASA has undergone and help create FSA ID's as the FAFSA form will not be available until late December.

District Science Fair Shout-Out

I am pleased to share that RHS earned two first place and two 3rd place medals in the district’s Science Fair.  First place went to Keddrick Lowe, Rico Brim and Ayden Williams-Harris’ research on  “Measuring the Rate of Oxygen in the Air”.  First place also  went to Kadence Pruitt, Zaliyan Hampton and Za’Quan Hunter for their research on “Carbs vs. Protein”. 

 

Our third place winners are Kristi Smith and Lexie Garrison, whose experiment was “Decomposing Bone Marrow” also coming in third place is Carlos Esteban and Christian Serrano, their exploration was “What’s the heart’s favorite activity?”.  Congatulations to these promising scientists we are super proud of your hard work! 

 

Football Shout-Out

Another congratulations goes to our varsity football team.  The Rams took on the Dark Horses of Clinton in the state championship and our mighty Rams came away with the victory, earning their 23rd championship ring.  We are proud of these scholar athletes and  also thankful for the work that our coaching staff has put in with these young men.

Congratulations to our V. Football team on their Friday night win, snagging the NCHSAA 2A Conference Championship.  These young men have earned a spot in the state championship on this coming Saturday, Dec. 9th at NC State University, kick-off will be at 3pm.  To purchase tickets, you will need to go to gofans.com - no ticket sales at the door.

Families, this will be a short week, school will be closed Nov. 22-24th for the Thanksgiving Holiday.  Please encourage your child to complete any missing assignments during this extended break.  Interim Reports will go home on Wednesday, Nov. 29th. 


 

Week of November 13th

 

Students enrolled in Biology, Math I, Math III and English II will take state Check-Ins this week. Please ensure that your child is at school each day.  The information gained from check-Ins helps our teachers prepare tailored instruction. 

 

Friday, Nov. 17th our Underclass will be able to Make-up missed photos.  These pictures will be used in our yearbook, therefore we need everyone to take them.  Students, if you missed picture day, please sign up for retakes. You may sign up in the media center or by emailing Mrs. Moody

 

Families we need your support with after school pick-up, please pick your students up in the main parking lot.  Our special needs buses pick up in the Cypress lot, we have run into many safety concerns with parents pulling into this lot to pick up students.  The front line moves quickly.  The Cypress lot will be blocked off for vehicles, only buses will be permitted entrance.  Thank you for helping us keep our students safe. 

 

Anime Club will meet Friday this week after school with Mr. Bradshaw in the business building. Everyone is welcome. 

 

Have you thought about jobs or a career in automotive repairs, parts or service?  Henniges Automotive is interested in meeting with you and will be in the media center on Wednesday, November 15 during third block. This is a great opportunity to learn how to break into the industry. See Mr. Bradshaw and your grade-level Canvas pages for more information.

Good Evening, this is Dr. Bertrand Haynes, Asst. Principal of Reidsville High School, an IB world school calling with updates for the week of Nov. 6th..

 

Attention all National Honor Society inductees: The fall induction ceremony will be held Wednesday, November 8th at 6:30 in the auditorium. In addition there will be two practices Monday and Tuesday from 3:35 - 4:00 in the auditorium. All inductees and officers are expected to attend. See you there. 

 

Nov. 7th is Java and Jazz Report Card pick up.  Please plan to come out and enjoy the sounds of our very own  Jazz band, and enjoy pastries and java in our courtyard. Families, representatives from  NORTH CAROLINA SCHOOL’s OF SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS will be on site to share information of their on and off-campus advanced learning opportunities. Parents this will also be a great time to gain support with setting up Canvas and Remind 101

 

Thursday Nov. 9th will be an early release day. School will be dismissed at 1:30pm.  

 

School will be closed on Friday Nov. 10th in observance of Veteran’s day.

Week of October 23rd

 

  • Attention Students: In support of Cancer Awareness, the National Honor Society is having a t-shirt sale. T-shirts are $20 and you may add the name of a loved one that is currently fighting cancer, is in remission or has passed away from cancer for $1. Purchase during all lunches through this Wednesday.

  • Q1 grading period will end on Friday, October 27th. Please encourage your child to submit their assignments and strive to remain current with school work. Please remember, students are provided a 2 week grace period on submitting assignments. Missing assignments that were due over 2 weeks ago will not be accepted.

  • On Thursday at 7pm, come out to enjoy the Mmbeth and Confession performance in our theater.

  • Mr. Bradshaw wants you to have an apprenticeship! If you are a junior or senior, there is an interest meeting on Tuesday night at 6pm. Come to RockATOP Community Night at the Rockingham County Economic Development Center to learn more. See Mr. Bradshaw for more information.

  • Monday Oct. 30th will be a teacher workday. No school for students. Friday, October 27th is an two-hour early release.

  • Families we look forward to our Jazz and Java Report card pick-up on Nov. 7th from 4:30-6:30.

  • Seniors who have not taken their Senior photos should complete the Google doc on the Junior or Senior Canvas page.  If you have questions, please see Mrs. Moody or Ms. Paschal.  The deadline to complete the Google doc is Tuesday.

Thursday, come dressed as your favorite teacher or staff member teachers dress like students. And Friday wear your college gear. The two best dressed seniors for each day will win a prize.

RHS Homecoming Dance will be Saturday October 14th  from 7pm-10pm. Tickets go on sale Monday October 2 before and after school and during all four lunches The dress is semi-formal. Tickets will be $10 for RHS and $15 for non RHS students. Students can not have any disciplinary actions after September 26, 2023. Please retrieve a form from the front office, room 302 or room 409. Tickets will be on sale through lunch on Friday. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AFTER 2pm on FRIDAY. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR!!

Come out and Cheer on your favorite Powder Puff Football Player. RHS Powder Puff Football Game will be Monday October 9, 2023 on the football field at 6:30pm. The cost is $3 to attend.

Tickets will be $10 for RHS and $15 for non RHS students. Students can not have any disciplinary actions after September 26, 2023. Please retrieve a form from the front office, room 302 or room 409. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR!!

 

Attention National Honor Society Members: We will have a meeting on Wednesday, October 4th, in Ms. Williamson’s room after school. We will be having elections for all offices. We look forward to seeing you then. 

 

Attention Students: Make sure to complete your applications for the National Honor Society. You may email them or turn in a paper application to Ms.

 Williamson. Applications are due October 15th. 

 

Reminder: There is NO design studio meeting this Tuesday. Our next meeting is at 3:45 on October 10th.

 

On October 12 and 13 next week from 3:45 till 5:00, we will hold auditions for our winter play “You Can’t Take It With You”.  There are roles for 7 female cast members and 9 male cast members.  If you are interested in auditioning, please see Mr. Murphy to pick up an audition scene.  You can find a pdf of the script online by typing the title of the play and the word “pdf”.

Ladies, are you ready for some football? Sign-ups for Homecoming PowderPuff Game are available on your class Canvas Page. To play students can have no office referrals and must be passing all classes. Sign-ups will be open until Thursday October 5, 2023. 

 

National “See You at the Pole” day is Wednesday 9/27 at 8:00am. If you are interested in joining FCA, we will have our first meeting on Wednesday morning at 7:30 am in Room 104 (Coach Teague’s Class) . We will walk out to the flagpole together at 8:00 am. 

 

Attention 10th graders - field trip forms for the Envision job expo are due Wednesday. Turn them in to your third block teacher or see Mr. Bradshaw for more information.

 

There is an Esports meeting in Mr. Bradshaw’s room on Wednesday, September 27 after school. There is still time to join upcoming tryouts. Anyone interested should attend.

 

Sept. 28th is an early release day, school will dismiss at 1:30, and Sept. 29th school will be closed for a Teacher Workday. 

 

Monday, Sept. 25th 2023 is declared Bryce Cabe day!  Bryce is the 10 year old brother of our very own senior, Noah Truskowski..  Bryce is a part of the Make a Wish program, one of his wishes is to go to High School.  On Monday, we will make this happen for Bryce.  Please plan to celebrate Bryce and help make his wish special.  Bryce's favorite color is orange and he is a huge fan of wrestling!  Bryce enjoys hunting, fishing and ATVs.  

 

East Carolina University is hosting their own free application week this week September 25 through the 29. This means if you're interested in applying to East Carolina University you should apply this week for FREE! You can apply through Common App, CFNC, or on the ECU website. If you have any questions or need any help don't hesitate to stop by or reach out to Ms. Freeland, your college advisor!


 

Student chromebook usage fees are due for the 23-24 school year. Please bring $30 cash or check written to Reidsville High School to the media center. If your renewal fee has not been paid by October 6th, your chromebook will be disabled. Please see Mrs. Chrisco or Mrs. Moody with any questions.

 

HOMECOMING SIGN-UP IS NOW OPEN!!! Complete the form on your class Canvas page if you are interested in being on the 2023/2024 RHS Homecoming Court. You must have at least a 2.0 GPA, no office referrals and be passing all courses. Sign-ups are open until Thursday September 27th. Seniors: If you make homecoming court you cannot be on Prom Court


 

Mark your calendar! Fall pictures will be Tuesday, October 17th for Freshmen-Juniors as well faculty and staff. More details will be forthcoming.

Parents have you reviewed RCS’ revised grading policy for high school? Students now have up to two weeks from the assignment due date to submit all missing assignments. After the two week grace period, the assignment will earn a score of zero.
There is a third and final Esports interest meeting in Mr. Bradshaw’s room, B116, on Tuesday, September 19 after school. Game competitions will be in Fortnite, Rocket League, Smash Bros., Madden, Valorant, and Overwatch 2. Anyone can join, no matter your level. League tryouts begin this week!
There is a swim team interest meeting on Wednesday, September 20 after school in Coach Bradshaw’s room, B116. Come learn why our swim team is a place for every level swimmer - and why we are setting our sights on conference champs. Bring friends, and let’s swim!
